  • sarena

Wow, great job on the video Keith and great job all around to the CFNYC community. Now Keith, explain to me how to regain my stregnth–I am gonna be so far behind!!!

  • Allison

So good! Even better than the first video, but may I request a hip hop soundtrack for the next video? That metal’s a bit much…

  • http://www.crossfitnyc.org Keith W.

Sarena, it’s called “Rest.” Try reading something besides CrossFit websites. :)

  • Kevin

Nice vid Keith. A Vulgar display of power!!

  • Kim

How about a John Coltrane ballad. Contrast is a basic principle.

    Angie Kicked My Butt.
Thanks, Keith, Allison, Dan and Ewen for another fantastic morning.

  • michelle

so what can we sub for the pullups since i will never be able to do more than 30 even with 5 of those assist bands?
kim r u coming to 12;30 class today?
    michelle

  • Kim

Michelle – I’ll be there at 12:30. Lunch after?
    Kim

  • sarena

I am in on that lunch date when I am back in the swing too!

  • Kim

    Sarena! REST!!!!!

  • Ewen

Let it be known that Angie smells like old sausage.
By the way, isn’t there some sort of squat-based substitution for pull-ups? How about for push-ups?
I mean, can’t I just do 400 squats and be done with? Since when are we supposed to work on our weaknesses? This sucks. :-)

  • michelle

Kim- i may not make it now.nanny troubles! i guess i could do the workout without the pullups in my gym. won’t be as much fun though.

  • michelle

i would love to do 400 squats and be done with it. sounds like a plan. Seriously-keith i cant make class so will do the workout in my gym-what can i sub for pull ups?

  • http://www.dammit.com dammit

  • michelle

    Angie: 27:11
Using every cheat – large band for pull ups, “boy” pushups.
    Thanks, Keith

  • http://www.dammit.com dammit

    how come?? they’re fun!

  • michelle

i am currently on a break after doing the sit ups and squats and only 25 push ups. i think the word “fun” as used in connection with any kind of pull ups is being used atmospherically.
it seems i will be doing “Angie’s pathetic cousin” wod
    kim-kudos.

  • Kim

    Michelle,
Thanks. Sorry for your nanny troubles. Next time. Remember that “angie’s pathetic cousin” is still part of the family.
    Best, Kim

  • michelle

Kim-it was REALLY a distant and pathetic cousin because as I was doing the sit ups my 7 year old son said mommy-i think u need some kettlebells to keep ur feet down. :O
    cu next week!

  • Kim

    Michelle,
Seven year olds are so cute!
I used dumb bells to keep my feet down. That was one of the cheats I forgot to mention. I’m sure they’re others. So my Angie is not much better.
Anyone found a way to avoid the dreaded road rash from the situps? I put down a towel and taped up. It not as bad as last time, but still….
    Best, Kim

  • http://www.crossfitnyc.org Keith W.

FYI, I think the road rash from the situp is from rocking the butt off the floor when you go back. I think if one keeps there butt down on the floor the whole time, it is less abbrasive. It never bothers me so I’m not sure why so many of you are experiencing this except that I have noticed some of you lift your butts up when your shoulders go back to the floor. Perhaps this deserves further study.

  • http://www.dammit.com dammit

you can get pilonidal cysts from doing sit-ups on uncushioned surfaces–it happened to my brother. not fun! it’s why i hate doing sit-ups without mats. if you’re stuck on the hard floor, and your tailbone tends to chafe, you’re probably better off doing crunches or flutterkicks. mmmm flutterkicks.

  • Kevin

Man, I wanted try “Angie” today but I had to pull a double at work so that was’nt happening. Oh well, next time.

  • Kevin

Man, I wanted try “Angie” today. Unfortunately I had to pull a double shift at work so that was’nt happening. Oh well, next time.

Interesting article from Web MD about the movie 300 workout.

  • Brett_nyc

Hey Dammit, try tabata flutter kicks sometimes. I do them every now and then cuz they suck so bad.

Check out the Gym Jones web page.

  • Kim

Was the “300″ any harder than Angie which has 400 reps? (or the other girls)
I have to say, I’m sorer today than I’ve ever been from a XFit workout. And yesterday, after Angie, my muscles were just shaking for a couple of hours. Rode my bike for an hour today for active recovery.

  • Kevin

What are we subbing for the 400m run in the WOD today?

  • justin

    25 double unders…
    3 rounds:
    24 jumping muscle-ups
    30 back extensions
    25 double unders
15:01…The edges of my wrists are killing me from the jumping MU.
