Judges can just show up whenever you are available and check in with the coach running the Open WOD (in Avery’s quadrant at 28 Street).

    • BenS

      nice work, that was awesome.

    • reisbaron

Andrew, your split snatches looked legit. Great job this morning!!

Score: 100 reps. Goal accomplished. Thanks Jackie for judging. Bring on 13.2 (preferably not of the ladder variety…)

  • reisbaron

    13.1 – 111 reps

I was hoping for 115, so I can’t be disappointed. That’s a lot of burpees. Lots of support for people doing the Open WOD…great energy today. Thanks for the help!

…and the showers on 28th? I had no idea. Bathrooms are looking very nice.

  • AndyK

104 reps, pretty happy given that I am 2 weeks into CrossFit and had only done one light snatch workout

    • reisbaron

      Um…wow! Great work man…

all that in 2 weeks? I want to eat what you’re eating!

Will there be any coaching sessions for us beginners prior to doing the Open workouts (ie snatches are not in our rotation that often so tips for the workout would be helpful)

    • AndyK

Per above, I am a beginner too – was a college athlete, but never did snatches prior to CF. There was not really time for any instruction before – Sara had us all go through one rep but she also came around throughout the WOD giving some small pointers. I would say if you are planning a workout before doing 13.1, just ask whoever the coach is for some extra snatch pointers at the beginning or end.

Hey, beginners, check the links I posted in the Friday blog post. There’s prep/strategy advice from some of the biggest names in CrossFit, including Kelly Starrett and Carl Paoli. Watching them is definitely worth your time. Enjoy!

    • Hari Singh

Best bet for new people is to show up an hour early and watch the WOD being done. You will also likely be able to get plenty of advice from people who will be there to judge, most of whom will have considerable experience.

13.1 – 107 reps. Only +2 from 12.2 but snatches felt better than expected. Back for more on Saturday…

  • jsg

13.1 —> 100 reps, just couldn’t get the 135 up and I know it was 110% mental….may go for another shot on Saturday – REALLY want to get 101+

  • AndrewNYC

    13.1 137 reps

    • Jonathan P

Look at you now!! Great job!

      • AndrewNYC

        Thank you JP!

Any chance of more weekday Open WODs? The ones I usually make seem to be filled with waitlists.

  • Shannon D

    Sunday open wod? Please?

  • Wayne

13.1 – 122. Sure helps to be old and not to have to move so much weight.
